    ABI Rehabilitation is currently recruiting Psychologists to work in our community team to provide evidence based community rehabilitation for children and adolescents who have had a brain injury in the greater Wellington region. Clients vary in severity of their brain injuries from “mild” (e.g., concussion) to severe. The community service provides clinic, home and school based rehabilitation for young people and their whanau and families as they return to school/work, family and daily life.

    This position offers unique opportunities for professional growth and team-work with psychologists and other ABI clinicians. We are keen to recruit an established neuropsychologist who has previous experience in carrying out ACC Neuropsychological assessments for children and adolescents.

    The job description includes:
    • Paediatric Neuropsychological Screening, Concussion Assessment, Comprehensive Neuropsychological Assessment for children and adolescents with traumatic brain injury (TBI)
    • Working within an interdisciplinary treatment team.
    • Working with children, adolescents and their families and whanau.

    Based on experience and interest the position may also include:
    • Clinical Psychology – child/adolescent and family therapy for traumatic brain injuries and other accident related mental health concerns (e.g. PTSD, anxiety, depression, adjustment).
    • Behavioural Management.
    • Supporting young people as they deal with the challenges of return to school and return to social and family life.
    • Community education about brain injury and rehabilitation with ABI partners in schools, hospital, government and advocacy organizations.

    Interested individuals must have registration, or be eligible to register, with the NZ Psychologists Board under the “clinical” scope. You must have at least 2 years post graduate experience working with children following a brain injury. You will have Professional Body Membership e.g. NZCCP, NZPSS. Ideally you will be registered as having the Neuropsychology scope by the NZ Board of Psychologists.
